Car Chase in Aiken County Leads to Multiple Injuries

The Aiken County police responded to a crash this week on the Aiken Bypass near Vaucluse Road. The crash happened on Friday afternoon, March 13, at about 2 pm. When the police arrived at the scene, they found two cars, both of which had run off the road.

There was a light-colored pickup truck involved in the crash. When the police arrived, they found the truck had flipped over several times and ran off the road. The impact was so severe, the bed of the truck was actually ripped off. The driver was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. There were no details on his condition.

The other vehicle involved in the crash was a darker colored car. The report didn’t provide the make and model of either of the cars. The car had also flipped over and landed on its side. The first responders had to cut the doors off the car to extract the driver. By the time they got them out, they needed to be rushed to the hospital as well. He was transported there by ambulance, separately from the other driver

The crash is still being investigated. Witnesses, which included both drivers and local homeowners, said it looked like a car chase. This wasn’t a chase that involved the police. One of the vehicles appeared to be chasing after the other. Whether it was road rage or something else, the police aren’t sure.

They had to close the roadway to clear it of debris. The roads opened a couple of hours later. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and the Aiken Department of Public Safety are conducting an investigation. They haven’t indicated whether charges will be pending.
