Most car accidents are caused by a simple mistake. Someone isn’t thinking clearly and the next thing you know, they’re crashing into another vehicle. This seems to be what happened yesterday where a 68-year old woman dies in Spartanburg accident.
68-year old Sandra Blanton was driving on South Pine Street near the intersection of Dogwood Club Road. She was attempting to make a left-hand turn at the intersection when she was plowed into by a 2007 Honda.
Blanton was seriously injured and was rushed to Spartanburg Medical Center. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at 7:58 p.m. There has been on information released on the other driver.
Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that anyone else was injured in the crash. No other cars were involved in the collision, except for the one driven by Blanton and the Honda.
The authorities are supposed to conduct a forensic review on Saturday, October 5. Until then, we won’t really know more about what caused this accident or who the other driver was.
Often times, when someone is hit while making a left-hand turn, there is some sort of negligence involved. It could be that the person driving the Honda was speeding. Or, there could have been drugs or alcohol involved. That doesn’t seem to be the case here. Or, if it is, it hasn’t been confirmed as of yet.
We expect more information will be released once the forensic review has been completed. At that time, it will be interesting to see if any legal claims are filed by the victim’s family or the other driver.
